This event is the same annual Skulls Golf Outing John Strasky/Tom Nemec Memorial invite that in prior years was managed by Tom Clark and Rob Nielsen. This event is not a fundraiser; this is a celebration of life. We are glad you are here, please register today!
Please join your NIU brothers and little sisters in honoring the great memories of our fellow Skulls who have passed with another 2nd Friday in August afternoon/evening of fun at the Phillips Park Golf Course located at 1001 Hill Ave, Aurora and afterparty at Gario's Pizza located at 813 Montgomery Road, Montgomery (NEW LOCATION FOR AFTERPARTY).
Due to overwhelming interest generated by prior year's attendees, we are expanding the golf event from 50 to 100 participants. We are also changing the format from "tee times" to scramble. Please register early as the fees are a nominal $66.50 per player ($266 for a foursome), including carts. If we can get all 100 players registered by May 31st, then the Phillips Golf Course will contribute $500 in pro-shop merchandise to use for prizes.
Golf Format: Each team tees-off and proceeds to hit from the team's best ball location. The max team score per hole is a double bogey (two over). Teams are expected to have a lot of fun on the course and to move at a fairly good pace. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team, Numbskulls (high score), longest drive and closest to the pin. The event ringers in the past have been pretty consistently Tim Nemec, Kelley, Sell and Clark, but they can be beaten and were beaten in the 2023 outing by Lirot, Vester, Shea and Nilsen. Hopefully the 2024 team winners will be returning to defend their title.
The afterparty at Gario's will be cash food and cash bar and is also where the prizes will be awarded. The group at Gario's will be the ones with the person wearing their flicker football starter jacket over their faded pledge jersey. Or you can listen to the chorus of "Drink Beer" and "Mack the Knife" as we visualize Larry Eckert (The Hook -RIP) in the middle of the circle. Of course, Tim will be there in person to raise a goblet to brother Tom Nemec (RIP)...oh the shark bites. The group will as always be a standout and is usually joined by several that just attend the fun at the afterparty.
AGAIN, WE NEED TO GET 25 FOURSOMES TO REGISTER BY MAY 31st. We don't need all names for the foursomes at this point, just the Eventbrite registrations. If we get all 100 registered by May 31st, then the Phillips Golf Course will contribute $500 in pro-shop merchandise to use for prizes. Please commit to your team and register today!
Selecting the foursome ticketing option at check-out will greatly assist us in organizing the outing. Selecting a foursome will also allow you to pay for your team, collect directly from your teammates and let you control who is in your foursome. If you sign up as an individual, we will assign foursomes and we will do our best to create requested pairings. Eventbrite will be used to secure payments, refunds (if necessary) and manage registrant communications.
