On Saturday, July 26th Cornwall Park parkrun is excited to announce the return of the Wooden Spoon Relay. This event is NOT associated with parkrun but is a special event that Cornwall Park parkrun has occasionally run to take place after the official parkrun event.
The relay is for teams of 3 people with each team member completing one full lap of the Cornwall Park parkrun course. The aim is to be the first team to carry their wooden spoon across the finish line. If only it was that simple!
To make this event open to everyone over the age of 11, each team’s previous Cornwall Park parkrun event times will be used to calculate a “handicap” time. Each team’s first runner will start at staggered times based upon this “handicap” time – which, if all goes to plan, will mean that all teams finish at, or about, the same time.
The entry criteria are simple: -
• All team members must be 11 years of age or older,
• All team members must each have completed at least 3 Cornwall Park parkrun events in the last 12 months.
So, if you and 2 friends want to have a go – think of a team name and let the RD know!
