In memory of Val Kilmer and to mark World Head and Neck Cancer Day 2025, join us for a night of Top Gun (1986) at the iconic Hollywood cinema in Avondale! This event is brought to you by Head and Neck Cancer Foundation Aotearoa and Head & Neck Cancer Support Aotearoa.
Ticket price includes film entry + one raffle ticket per person. Come along from 6.30pm for pre-film mingling, with drinks and snacks available to purchase from the Hollywood bar. The film will start at 7.15pm with a short welcome and introduction from our two charities.
Head and neck cancer is the sixth most common cancer type globally, it's on the rise and it's underfunded. Treatment options are harsh, often leaving lifelong difficulties with eating, swallowing and speaking - to name but a few. Despite this, head and neck cancer is less well-known than other cancer types, resulting in late diagnosis, worse prognosis and a lack of patient support.
The funds raised from this screening will go directly towards supporting our core work: providing direct patient support and resources; funding medical research to improve treatment options; advocating for strategies which prevent these cancers, improve patient outcomes and address health inequities; and raising awareness of this under-profiled and life-threatening cancer type.
We look forward to enjoying some classic but timely aviation action with you for World Head and Neck Cancer Day!
A huge thank you to Paramount Pictures, Hollywood cinema and Fonterra's Doing Good Together fund for sponsoring this fundraiser.
