These monthly sessions are an opportunity to come together, whakawhanaungatanga and learn a new waiata Māori to add to your kete.

Guiding participants through our waiata sessions is the manu tioriori Aleesha-Tia Taua.

Waiata Sessions are held monthly on Mondays over 2025.

Kia Ora e te whānau! My name is Aleesha Tia Taua and I will be running your waiata sessions as a part of the Whakapuāwai Programme with Te Pou. I am currently working for my people with Te Kawerau Iwi Tiaki Trust as the Kaimahi Maatauranga but have always had a passion for performing arts and waiata. Everything from Kapa Haka to theatre to gigging, I love it all. I’m looking forward to contributing to a creative environment that promotes whakawhanaungatanga and waiata Māori.
