About the event

Introduction to Japanese Kumiko
Kumiko is a decorative Japanese woodworking technique that uses individual pieces of wood to create intricate patterns.

During this 4 half-day introductory class you will create a small keep-sake box incorporating a Kumiko ‘Asanoha’ panel in the lid.

You will learn to make a small box with mitred corners and a fitted lid. The grain pattern will continue around all four sides . You will also learn how to create Kumiko gridwork and how to cut and fit the infill pieces that make the pattern. This course is suitable for the experienced woodworker and the absolute beginner alike, it requires no previous experience.

Note! A materials fee is covered within your course fee. You DO NOT NEED to purchase timber.
