Fabric Weaving Workshops

Join our free workshops and learn how to transform old t-shirts, duvet covers, and other textiles that are no longer fit for reuse into vibrant rag rugs using a variety of fabric weaving techniques. Discover endless possibilities through pattern and colour play!

Supported by the Auckland Council Waste Minimisation and Innovation Fund as part of the "Community Thread" project, the Mindful Mending Workshops will show you how to transform textile waste into something new and wonderful through creative upcycling and repurposing.

Amish Knot Toothbrush Rag Rug
A small one is good as a trivet; a larger one is great for a cat to curl up on.

🧣 Thursday 12 June, 10am-12pm
Braided in Rag Rug
Repurpose fabric by braiding in different colours to create intricate patterns.

🧣 Thursday 19 June, 10am-12pm
Coiled Rag Rug or Bowl
Coiling technique to make a fabric bowl or a flat mat.
