Wine Studies Micro-credential Program
Ready to elevate your wine game? Whether you're a curious beginner, a seasoned enthusiast, or a hospitality professional, Auburn University’s new Wine Studies Micro-credential is your perfect pour. In a five-session series with Master Sommelier Thomas Price, you’ll sharpen your palate, learn to identify grape varieties and wine styles, and understand how to spot great value in every bottle.

For every Wine Studies Micro-credential earned, you will receive a commemorative pin that marks each level: War Eagle Wine Explorer, War Eagle Wine Enthusiast, and War Eagle Wine Expert.

- Open to everyone (Auburn University enrollment is NOT required)
- Must be 21 years or older
- Non-credit program
Program Format
Five classes, each 90 minutes in duration
Certification
Participants will earn a micro-credential that certifies completion of this focused area of study
Old World Wines
In this five-class series, Master Sommelier Thomas Price will guide you through the rich traditions of Old World wines—from the vineyards of France to the storied regions of Europe where winemaking was born.
Dates: August 21, September 25, October 30, November 20, and December 11
- French Wine Law Overview, Burgundy and Bordeaux
- Winemaking Origins, Foundational Learning
- Rhone Valley, Loire Valley, Other French Wines
- Spain, Germany, and Austria
- Piedmont and Tuscany, Italy
- Final Tasting Evaluation and Champagne Toast Afterwards
Time: 6:00-7:30 p.m., 90 minutes
Cost: $495 per person, including wine for all sessions
