About the event

Blow Your Mind Botany
You'll never look at plants the same again!

About this Event

Why do people often give plants such lowly status? Without them, we would have nothing but barren rock surfaces surrounded by swirling gases. Retired Botany professor Joe Medeiros will review the never-ending and amazing characteristics of members of the plant kingdom on Thursday, August 14, in a free public presentation at the Auburn Recreation District, Lakeside Room in Auburn.

Professor Medeiros will discuss who these incredible plants are and what they provide for every other living species on Earth. He will also review research demonstrating that plants have more sensory abilities than humans, communication skills as complex as the modern internet, and myriad partnerships with other species, including fungi. Plants also offer our primary solutions to climate change!

Are they intelligent? We’ll let you decide once you know the facts.

This program, sponsored by the California Native Plant Society’s local Redbud Chapter, will take place Thursday, August 14, at 6 p.m., at 3770 Richardson Drive, Auburn.

Free and open to all. At registration, we welcome donations of any amount. Thank you for supporting our wide-ranging, environmental endeavors!
