In 2016, preservationists Elizabeth and Ethan Finkelstein founded Cheap Old Houses, a viral Instagram account-turned-global movement celebrating affordable historic homes. Their efforts helped inspire thousands to purchase, restore, and preserve architectural gems in their own backyards. With millions of followers and a thriving community dedicated to historic preservation, Cheap Old Houses has earned features in The New York Times, Architectural Digest, Forbes, and more. Their movement launched a popular HGTV show and their recently published book highlights their journey alongside preservationists who took to their calling.
Join Elizabeth, Ethan, AARCH, and the owners of the iconic Graves Mansion in Au Sable Forks for a meaningful dialog about restoration and architectural stewardship. Embark on a guided tour of the Graves Mansion that explores its history, architectural significance, and preservation efforts. This will also include a meet and greet and book signing with Elizabeth and Ethan.
This event includes three tour times – 10 AM, 12 PM, and 2 PM. The house tour is guided by Cheap Old Houses founders and authors, Elizabeth and Ethan Finklestein, Graves Mansion owner Melinda Levens and her son Bryton Vogler, and AARCH Staff. A meet and greet and book signing opportunity will follow each tour.
The fee is $40 per person. Cost includes a copy of Cheap Old Houses: An Unconventional Guide to Loving and Restoring a Forgotten Home as well as light refreshments.
