Artist Statement
I'm inspired by the endless possibilities of surfaces, materials, and their relationship to paint. While I often make references to nature, structures that exist in both exterior and interior spaces inform my work. As my practice evolves, I experiment with techniques that reflect my interest in textiles and surface design. Through patterns, textures, and a layered approach to surface, I realized that textiles, like paintings, are built through process: weaving, dyeing, and unraveling which currently mirror my methods of layering paint, manipulating it in dried form, and reworking the surface in various formats. My current work explores the fertile intersection between painting and sculpture. It emerges from a deep engagement with landscape—not as a backdrop or direct subject, but as a conceptual and formal foundation. By integrating dimensionality into painterly surfaces and layering color, texture, and materiality into sculptural form, I create structures that resist easy categorization.
