THE SALFORD JETS
Originally known as The Jets until renamed SALFORD JETS by bassist Diccon Hubbard, established themselves as a Power House of a band at the Duke of Wellington on the Top Road in Pendlebury, with a five year residency that saw them release several major label singles including the Top 75 hit
*Who You Looking At, 'Gina I've got a Cortina' and Manchester Boys.
Lead by charismatic lead singer MIKE SWEENEY who became a legendary Radio Broadcaster initially with Piccadilly Radio and now BBC Manchester
FAST CARS
Also starting under the name The Jets in 1978 FAST CARS soon changed their name on hearing of the SALFORD JETS playing a residency just 200 yards away from their own resident venue at The Butchers Arms also on the Top Road!... FAST CARS residency only lasted 6 months due to the chaos that ensued at the Saturday night gigs in Pendlebury that inspired them to write what would become a Worldwide Cult hit THE KIDS JUST WANNA DANCE
The song eventually lead to 2 Sell Out tours of Japan and gigs in Berlin, Madrid & Rome... Their recently released LIVE album 'PLAYED IN JAPAN' serves as testament to this incredible live band !
