Με χαρά και τιμή υποδεχόμαστε ξανά την αγαπημένη μας συνεργάτιδα και φίλη Sandy Silva, τον Οκτώβριο 2025 στο PLAYGROUND for the arts!
Η Sandy, πρωτοπόρος στη σύνθεση body percussion και σύγχρονης κίνησης, έρχεται στην Αθήνα για ένα δυναμικό διήμερο: workshops & clinic που συνδυάζουν ρυθμό, κίνηση, φωνή και εικόνα.
Τα τελευταία 35 χρόνια έχει αναπτύξει ένα προσωπικό χορευτικό λεξιλόγιο, βασισμένο στις ρυθμικές και κινητικές παραδόσεις της Ουγγαρίας, των Απαλαχίων, του Cape Breton και της Ανδαλουσίας, καθώς και στα ιδιώματα του τσίρκου, του σύγχρονου χορού και του θεάτρου. Η χορογραφία της Silva υφαίνει έναν διάλογο ανάμεσα σε αυτά τα εκφραστικά και ρυθμικά ρεπερτόρια, συνδυάζοντας το τοπικό και το παγκόσμιο σε μια σύγχρονη σωματική απόκριση στον κόσμο της.
Το 2014 η Sandy ξεκίνησε να δημιουργεί και να παράγει ταινίες με τη διακεκριμένη σκηνοθέτρια Marlene Millar. Η συνεχιζόμενη συνεργασία τους, το www.migrationdance.com, έχει αποδώσει επτά διεθνώς βραβευμένες ταινίες που συνδυάζουν body percussion, τραγούδι, ρυθμό, κίνηση και αφήγηση.

👉 Workshops
Εξερεύνηση της πρακτικής της Sandy: φωνητικές μελωδίες, ρυθμικές χειρονομίες, σιωπή & κίνηση, μέσα από αποσπάσματα ταινιών και νέα δημιουργικά υλικά. Θα αναδείξουμε τη σημασία του εύρους ανάμεσα στη σιωπή και την ακινησία, τη χρήση των τονισμών μέσω χειρονομίας, και τις πυκνές ρυθμικές υφές του body music που μπορούν να ξεδιπλωθούν με άνεση και φυσικότητα.
Θεματικές που θα εξετάσουμε:
- Ανάλυση σύντομων χορο-φωνητικών ακολουθιών από 3 ταινίες
- Ανάπτυξη πρακτικής σε μικτά επίπεδα εμπειρίας
- Έρευνα νέου υλικού για επερχόμενο κινηματογραφικό project

Η Sandy θα παρουσιάσει σε βάθος τις μεθόδους χορογραφίας και φωνητικοποίησης που έχει αναπτύξει μέσα από το Migration Dance Film Project.

We are so happy and honoured to host our beloved collaborator and friend Sandy Silva, in October 2025 at PLAYGROUND for the arts.
SANDY SILVA was among the first to combine body percussion techniques and contemporary movement with percussive dance. Over the past three and half decades, Sandy has developed a personal dance vocabulary based on the percussive movement practices of Hungary, Appalachia, Cape Breton, and Andalusia, and the idioms of circus, contemporary dance, and theater. Silva’s choreography weaves a dialogue between these gestural and rhythmic repertoires, blending the local and global in a contemporary corporeal response to her world.
In 2014 Sandy began creating and producing films with acclaimed filmmaker Marlene Millar. Their ongoing collaboration, www.migrationdance.com, has yielded seven international award-winning films combining body percussion, song, rhythm, movement, and story.

👉 Workshops
Essentially, we will explore her practice by dissecting and re-integrating her use of syllabic vocal melodies and thematic rhythmic gestures, all within a walking-foot vocabulary. We also highlight the importance of the full range between silence and stillness, the use of accents through gesture, and the dense rhythmic textures of body music that can unfold with comfort and ease.
Themes we will address:
- dissect short choreo vocal sequences from 3 films
- working with and developing a practice with mixed levels.
- research new material for new film project
