Η χοροθεατρική παράσταση Butoh ”Kiki et Colette / The Age of Time" γεννήθηκε μέσα από τη δημιουργική σύμπραξη καλλιτεχνών που ζουν και εργάζονται στην Αίγινα. Από το 2023, η Αλίκη Γερμανού και η Νικολέτα Ξεναρίου συνδιαμόρφωσαν την τριλογία Βutoh, ενώ στην πορεία το έργο πλαισιώθηκε από μέλη της καλλιτεχνικής κοινότητας της Αίγινας, που συνέβαλαν καθοριστικά στη διαμόρφωση και την ολοκλήρωσή του. Ως φυσική εξέλιξη αυτής της πορείας, το 2025 ιδρύθηκε η αστική μη κερδοσκοπική εταιρεία Common Era, με έδρα την Αίγινα, με σκοπό την δημιουργία και φιλοξενία σύγχρονων καλλιτεχνικών δράσεων.
Η παράσταση πραγματοποιείται υπό την αιγίδα του Aegina Jazz Festival, ενός θεσμού που επίσης γεννήθηκε το 2025 στην Αίγινα και με την πολύτιμη υποστήριξη τοπικών επιχειρήσεων που συμβάλλουν με τον δικό τους τρόπο στην υλοποίηση του εγχειρήματος.
Το Σάββατο μετά την παράσταση θα ακολουθήσει πάρτι με μουσικές από την Belle Epoque έως το σήμερα που θα επιμεληθεί το Jazz Solidarity Network.
Το έργο
Η Kiki de Montparnasse και η Colette, οι δύο εμβληματικές περσόνες των Παρισινών «Αnnées Folles» (Τρελών Χρόνων) της δεκαετίας του 1920, άφησαν ανεξίτηλα τα ίχνη τους τόσο ως καλλιτέχνιδες όσο και ως πρωτοποριακές προσωπικότητες. Έχοντας αφήσει τον μεγάλο πόλεμο πίσω τους, έζησαν στα χρόνια αυτά των εκρήξεων της Τέχνης και των νέων ιδεών, γεμάτες πάθη, αυταπάτες, όνειρα και τόλμη.
Οι δύο γυναίκες, έναν αιώνα μετά, αποτέλεσαν έμπνευση για τις ερμηνεύτριες Αλίκη Γερμανού και Νικολέτα Ξεναρίου για να δημιουργήσουν την χοροθεατρική παράσταση-τριλογία με τίτλο "Kiki et Colette / The Age of Time". Βασικό άξονα αποτελεί η έννοια του αέναου κύκλου του Χρόνου ως κρίκου διασύνδεσης με το παρελθόν που επανέρχεται στο Τώρα ως νέα εκδοχή.
O Χρόνος, ως μία μυστηριώδης φιγούρα, διατρέχει ολόκληρη την τριλογία καθώς μετασχηματίζεται από οικοδεσπότης–ταξιθέτης του πρώτου μέρους, σε διαρρήκτη-ιχθύ στο δεύτερο μέρος, για να φτάσει στην αυστηρή, υψηλού κύρους θεϊκή οντότητα στο τρίτο μέρος.
Στο έργο κυριαρχεί η χορογραφική γλώσσα του Butoh. Πηγή έμπνευσης αποτελούν η αλχημιστική ψυχολογία, η φιλμογραφία του David Lynch, κείμενα του T.S Elliot, βιογραφικά στοιχεία των Kiki de Montparnasse και Colette, καθώς και προσωπικά βιώματα.
Τα παιχνίδια με τον χρόνο και η ακραία σωματικότητα δημιουργούν την ψευδαίσθηση ότι παρελθόν, παρόν και μέλλον συμπυκνώνονται σε κάθε στιγμή. Η στιγμή διαστέλλεται και πλημμυρίζει τον χώρο. Οι καταιγιστικές αλλαγές εικόνων πλάθουν μια σουρεαλιστική εικαστικότητα και η διάρκεια των σκηνών με τις συρραφές τους, δημιουργούν μια παράδοξη αφήγηση. Σκηνογραφία, ηχητικό τοπίο, φωτισμοί και video art, συντελούν καθοριστικά στην δραματουργική εξέλιξη.

The Butoh dance-theatre performance “Kiki et Colette / The Age of Time” was born out of the creative collaboration of artists who live and work on the island of Aegina. Since 2023, Aliki Germanou and Nikoleta Xenariou have been shaping this Butoh trilogy, while along the way the work was further developed and enriched by members of Aegina’s artistic community, whose contributions were vital to its formation and completion. As a natural continuation of this journey, in 2025 the non-profit art company Common Era was founded in Aegina, with the purpose of creating and hosting contemporary artistic projects.
The performance is presented under the auspices of the Aegina Jazz Festival, a cultural institution that also originated in Aegina in 2025, and with the valuable support of local businesses that contribute in their own way to making this vision a reality.
On Saturday, after the performance, a party will follow with music ranging from the Belle Époque to the present day, curated by the Jazz Solidarity Network
About the Performance
Kiki de Montparnasse and Colette, two iconic figures of the Parisian Belle Époque and the Années Folles of the 1920s, left an indelible mark as both artists and pioneering personalities. They lived during a time of artistic explosions and new ideas, moving forward with passion, dreams, and daring, leaving a lasting imprint on collective memory.
A century later, these two women serve as a source of inspiration for performers Aliki Germanou and Nikoleta Xeneriou, who create the Butoh dance-theater trilogy Kiki et Colette / The Age of Time. The work explores the concept of the eternal cycle of Time, the connection between past and present, and its reappearance as a new version.
In the first part, titled “The Illusion”, the two heroines meet for the first time in a house–stage, accompanied by ancestors, ghosts, and truths. In the second part, “The Dream”, they are willingly drawn into a shared subconscious, while in the third and final part, “The Gift”, they align completely in a groundbreaking drama set in present time.
Time, as a mysterious figure, runs through the entire trilogy—transforming from host–usher in the first part, to burglar–fish–gift-giver in the second, and finally into a strict, high-ranking divine entity in the third.
The work is grounded in the choreographic language of Butoh and utilizes tools from the Viewpoints technique. Sources of inspiration include alchemical psychology, the filmography of David Lynch, texts by T.S. Eliot, biographical elements of Kiki de Montparnasse and Colette, as well as personal experiences.
The performance is a continuous search for new choreographic structures and narrative modes. Time expands and floods the space. The shifting images create a surreal visual experience, while the sequence of scenes and their unpredictable juxtapositions compose a paradoxical narrative.
Scenography, soundscape, lighting, and video art function as organic elements of the dramaturgy, enhancing the overall experience of the performance.
