Η Roma Gallery παρουσιάζει την ατομική έκθεση Κ Ω Σ Τ Η Σ – ΜΠΛΕ ΑΛΦΑΒΗΤΟ. Η έκθεση, την οποία επιμελείται η ιστορικός τέχνης Άλια Τσαγκάρη, πραγματεύεται τη συγκρότηση ενός νέου οπτικού αλφαβήτου δομικών μορφών. Το αλφάβητο αυτό αρθρώνεται μέσα από μια σειρά φωτογραφικών αποτυπώσεων ηλεκτρικών εκφορτίσεων κεραυνών, τους οποίους ο καλλιτέχνης παράγει στο εργαστήριό του, αξιοποιώντας ένα τυπωμένο ηλεκτρονικό κύκλωμα δικής του επινόησης. Στο πλαίσιο αυτής της πρωτοποριακής διαδικασίας, η αμιγώς λευκή έκρηξη του κεραυνού μεταστοιχειώνεται σε βαθιές μπλε αύρες μέσω ενός κοίλου κατόπτρου Murano. Οι ηλεκτρικές εκκενώσεις αποτυπώνονται ως ριζωματικές μορφές και ηλεκτροφορητικές απολήξεις, συγκροτώντας έναν ιδιότυπο οπτικό κώδικα που υπερβαίνει τη γραμμικότητα της συμβατικής γραφής.
Αναλογιζόμενη τις εκθεσιακές μεταμορφώσεις του κεραυνού, η επιμελήτρια της έκθεσης Άλια Τσαγκάρη επισημαίνει: «Το Μπλε Αλφάβητο του Κ Ω Σ Τ Η απαντά στο αίτημα των θεωρητικών της πρωτοπορίας του 20ού αιώνα για μία νέα «γραφή του φωτός», ενσωματώνοντας την τυχαιότητα και την εφήμερη χρονικότητα της ηλεκτρικής εκκένωσης σε έναν εξωγλωσσικό κώδικα επικοινωνίας. Ο ριζωματικός αυτός κώδικας, μέρος ενός ευρύτερου σώματος οπτικής ποίησης, ενεργοποιεί μία ρέουσα, πολυπολική και μη-γραμμική αισθητηριακή αντίληψη, τόσο του φαινομένου του κεραυνού όσο και της ίδιας της γραφής».
Η έκθεση τελεί υπό την αιγίδα του Γαλλικού Ινστιτούτου Αθηνών.

Roma Gallery is pleased to present the solo exhibition C O S T I S – BLUE ALPHABET. Curated by the art historian Alia Tsagkari, the exhibition engages with the constitution of a new visual alphabet of structural forms. This alphabet is articulated through a series of photographic renderings of electrical discharges of lightning, which the artist generates in his studio by means of a printed electronic circuit of his own invention — a gesture of technological innovation that marks an epistemic rupture within the visual arts. In the framework of this pioneering process, the purely white explosion of lightning transubstantiates into deep blue auras through a concave Murano mirror. The electrical discharges are inscribed as rhizomatic forms and electrified extensions, configuring a singular semiotic system, a visual code that transcends the linearity of conventional writing.
Reflecting on the exhibitory metamorphoses of lightning the exhibition’s curator Alia Tsagkari observes: “C O S T I S’s work responds to the demand formulated by the theorists of the 20th-century avant-garde for a new ‘writing of light’, by incorporating the contingency and the ephemeral temporality of electrical discharge into an extralinguistic code of communication. This rhizomatic code, part of a broader corpus of visual poetry, activates a fluid, multipolar and non-linear sensorial perception of both the lightning phenomenon and of writing itself”.
The exhibition is held under the auspices of the French Institute in Athens.
