History Hike: Lower Aspen Mountain

Discover history under your feet as you ascend Aspen Mountain’s western slope to the historical Little Nell ski trail. This moderate hike explores the once-rich silver deposits and the tailings that remain on Aspen’s eponymous hill—a maze of tunnels, mines, and mining remnants—while winding up then down the ski hill’s lower trails.

Meets at Koch Lumber Park; ends at Gondola Plaza

This moderate hike takes place on steep dirt and gravel trails as well as on Summer Rd. on lower Aspen Mountain
