Join us at The Hop Ice Cream and Pop Bubble Tea at 640 Merrimon Ave Tuesday, 7/15 from 7-9pm, for an AUTHOR EVENT & BENEFIT FOR KICKSTARTER “Islands in the Sky”: a graphic novel anthology telling real Appalachians’ stories from Hurricane Helene. Acclaimed comic writers and illustrators are teaming up to immortalize survivors’ firsthand, personal accounts of the storm.

Andrew Aydin, author of New York Times bestselling graphic novels MARCH and RUN will be talking about this graphic novel campaign, along with SUPERMAN and BATMAN comic writer Matthew Manning. Jarrett Rutland, graphic novel artist, who’s illustrating a story in the anthology and illustrator of upcoming ASHEVILLE: A GRAPHIC NOVEL HISTORY, also written by Matthew Manning, will be there as well talking about the project. “If not for this book many of these people’s stories will probably go unheard.” Come support this book that seeks to bring a voice to the people of our area about what we endured last September.
