**Dryandra**
Dryandra is a genus of about 100 species in the family Proteaceae, found only in south-western Australia. It is related to banksias but distinguished by having flowers in heads and thin follicles (fruit). The plants range from prostrate mats to small trees. Most have yellow flowers but a some are orange, brown or red. In the wild they are an important part of the vegetation and provide food for small marsupials, birds and ants. A number have been brought into gardens.
Alexβs talk will describe the variety of growth habit, leaves and flowers, with comments on their discovery (since 1792) and naming.
