Reclaim the Wild was launched as part of the 16 Days of Action campain last year - it's a chance to Reclaim the Wild and feel safe in nature after dark.
Statistically, women are more likely to be harmed or murdered by an intimate partner or ex-partner, than they are by a stranger (Office for National Statistics (ONS).) However, as women, we are conditioned from birth to fear so-called "stranger danger."
Would you ever consider walking in nature alone after dark? If the answer is no, this event is for you!
Join us on the 3rd of March from 6:30pm at Arlington Court as a celebration of International Women's Day on the 8th of March.
The plan:
6.30 pm - Meet on the front lawn,
6.40pm - Bring a waterproof blanket and sit or lie down and listen to a story- this is your time to relax and just be (no-one else to take care of, but you)
6.50pm – Meditation/ Qi-Gong – getting into our bodies and really connecting with place
7.15pm – Walk – approx. 2.5 miles with time to socialise and enjoy the experience of being out in the dark and feeling safe
8.30pm – Fire pit social – Hot chocolate and chat. Time for reflection.
9.00pm – Finish.
Please note, appropriate clothes and footwear are essential (jumpers, coats, hats, plus walking/welly boots.)
You will need to be able to comfortably walk 2.5 miles across mixed terrain including hills.
Also check out other Health & Wellness events in Barnstaple.
