🍴11:30 am - 12:30 pm
📍925 111th St., Arlington, TX 76011.
📋Under the Dharma instructor's guidance, we will learn and practice sitting meditation, followed by a group discussion. You are welcome to bring any questions you may have about Buddhism during Q & A and to stay for a free vegetarian lunch after the session.
A brief biography of the Dharma instructor is as follow:
Venerable Jiangong is the current Abbot of Texas Pagoda Chan Monastery. He has previously served in key positions at Chung Tai Chan Monastery’s Buddhist Hospice Support Center, the Men’s Buddhist Institute, and the Novice Monk School. In the United States, he also held important roles at Buddha Gate Monastery in California, Chung Tai Zen Center of Sunnyvale, and Chung Tai Zen Center of Houston.
Before ordaining, he worked as a biomedical engineer. Although modern medicine and medical technology continue to advance, he observed that the number of hospitalized patients remained high. This led him to once again reflect deeply on the nature of birth, aging, sickness, and death.
After taking refuge under Grand Master Wei Chueh, he came to understand the Buddhist teaching: “Illness arises from karma, and karma arises from the mind.” To truly resolve the suffering of life and death, one must address the root causes—our habitual thoughts and intentions. As long as the mind remains free from delusion and does not give rise to karma, liberation from the cycle of birth and death is possible.
Deeply realizing this truth, he made the vow to follow Grand Master Wei Chueh and entered monastic life, wholeheartedly devoting himself to the Bodhisattva path of spreading the Dharma and guiding all beings.
His aspiration:
"To help all beings realize their true nature;
To dedicate myself to their awakening and Buddhahood."
