About this Event

"Groovy Buddha Block Print" with Resident Artist, David Amoroso

A Workshop @ the Innovation Studio / Saturday, August 2 / 2PM-4PM

Learn the AmorosoART technique for block printing. Using a stencil as your guide, pre-paint acrylics in vibrant strokes, then layer a Groovy Buddha linocut to create your own Pop-inflected “Master-Peace.” Explore how this simple process yields striking results.

Make sure to drop in with enough time to explore and create-- at least 30 minutes .

About the Artist

David Amoroso studied Commercial Design and Photography at NVCC.  He is a self-taught painter who has exhibited in the DC Metro area, New York, California, Mexico, and Central and South America. His work is frequently highlighted in community cultural events, festivals and Smithsonian programs.

---

As a painter, photographer, and printmaker who delivers one-of-a-kind, personality-driven original art of iconic people and products. He celebrates our experiences through his “NostalgiArt”, which demonstrates the power of our connections to Pop Culture Icons and nostalgia by bringing culture to life in Technicolor through his depictions of cultural commodities and beloved brands.

Although the majority of David’s work is dedicated to painting portraits of cultural icons, he also represents everyday people and addresses social justice through his art. The influence of Mexico and Central America are apparent in his bold color palette, and he upholds traditional cultural artistries such as Papel Picado, altars for Día de los Muertos and Guatemalan Alfombras de Aserrín
