Zine Launch and Communal Dinner – Support Event for People in Palestine

We are hosting a zine launch and communal dinner to raise funds for people in Palestine. We will be serving delicious vegan food. By attending you will be supporting people in Nablus in the West Bank, as well as those in Gaza. Bring a friend or come on your own – together we’ll have a wonderful evening in solidarity with Palestine.
In addition to dinner, the evening will feature the launch of the zine: " حياة فلسطين"/“Øjeblikke i Palæstina” / “Lives of Palestine". The stories mainly focus on experiences from Hebron and Nablus, but there are also other accounts about what it means to live under occupation in Palestine. The zines were created in collaboration with friends from Palestine because, together, we come to a greater understanding.
These folks are members of self-organized NGOs in the West Bank, supporting people in the refugee camps where they live. You can read more about their work below, and understand what your support is contributing to.
It also feels both urgent and necessary to support emergency aid in Gaza right now. Therefore, we will ensure that some of the funds raised will go towards this.
If you'd like to stick around after dinner, we will show a short video clip from a documentary production in work about life in Palestine. The documentary is in the early stages of production, so it will only be a sneak peek. The people featured in the movie live in the refugee camp New Askar in Nablus, where the NGO Awdeh Center operates.
Awdeh Center in Nablus
In the New Askar Camp refugee camp in Nablus, about 8,200 people live on an area of about 1 square kilometer. A lot of the inhabitants are kids and young people. From the 6th to the 10th of June the people in New Askar, like other muslims around the world, will celebrate Eid al-Adha. It is custom to buy new clothes for the kids for this celebration, but unfortunately not all families in New Askar can afford spending money on this. Awdeh Center helps poor family, children and other people in need in the refugee camp. The funds from this event will go towards making the celebration of Eid al-Adha a good experience for all people in New Askar refugee camp.
Gaza
In light of the latest military escalation, the situation in Gaza has deteriorated. The ceasefire has collapsed and renewed bombardment has once again caused widespread destruction and mass displacement. According to the UN, at least 100 children have been killed or injured every single day since the attacks resumed.
Today, humanitarian needs are greater than ever. Almost the entire population of Gaza is in urgent need of support. This includes everything from food, shelter and medicine to access to clean water and functioning health services.

Vi afholder zine launch og fællesspisning som støttearrangement til mennesker i Palæstina. Vi serverer lækker, vegansk mad, og ved at deltage, støtter du mennesker i Nablus på Vestbredden samt i Gaza. Alle er velkomne! Tag en ven under armen eller kom som du er – så får vi en god aften sammen i solidaritet med Palæstina.
Ud over aftensmaden byder aftenen også på lanceringen af zinen: "فلسطين"/“Øjeblikke i Palæstina” / “Lives of Palestine”, Historierne er primært oplevelser fra Hebron og Nablus, men der er også andre fortællinger om, hvad besættelsen betyder for det levede liv i Palæstina. Zinene er skabt i samarbejde med venner fra Palæstina, fordi sammen får vi en større forståelse.
De palæstinensere, der optræder i zinen, og som har været med til at skabe den, er selv organiseret i NGO'er på Vestbredden, der støtter mennesker i de flygtningelejre, de bor i. I kan læse mere om deres arbejde her, og hvad I er med til at støtte.
Det føles også helt nødvendigt og presserende at støtte førstehjælp i Gaza lige nu. Vi vil derfor også sørge for, at nogle af pengene går dertil.
Hvis du har lyst til at blive hængende efter aftensmad, vil vi vise et lille video klip fra en dokumentarfilm i produktion, der omhandler livet i Palæstina. Dokumentaren er i sine tidlige stadier af produktionen, så det vil kun være et sneak peek, man kan opleve. De mennesker, der optræder i filmen er beboere i flygtningelejren New Askar i Nablus, hvor NGO’en Awdeh Center opererer.
Awdeh Center i Nablus
I flygtningelejren New Askar Camp bor ca. 8.200 mennesker på et areal af ca. 1 kvadratkilometer. Mange af indbyggerne er børn og unge mennesker. Fra d. 6.-10. juni vil beboerne i New Askar, ligesom andre muslimer verden over, fejre Eid al-Adha. Det er skik at købe nyt tøj til børnene til denne højtid. Men desværre har ikke alle familier i New Askar råd til at bruge penge på dette. Awdeh Center hjælper fattige mennesker, børn og andre mennesker, fra flygtningelejren, der har brug fro støtte. Til denne begivenhed samler vi derfor penge ind til at alle i New Askar har fejre Eid al-Adha.
Gaza
I lyset af den seneste militære optrapning er situationen i Gaza forværret. Våbenhvilen er brudt sammen, og nye bombardementer har endnu en gang forårsaget omfattende ødelæggelser og massefordrivelse. Ifølge FN er mindst 100 børn blevet dræbt eller såret hver eneste dag siden angrebene blev genoptaget
I dag er det humanitære behov større end nogensinde før. Næsten hele befolkningen i Gaza har akut brug for støtte. Det gælder alt fra fødevarer, husly og medicin til adgang til rent vand og fungerende sundhedstjenester.
