On behalf of the Area 1 Agency on Aging, we would like to extend the opportunity for you to become a sponsor of the Young at Heart 2025, scheduled for Wednesday evening, October 1, 2025, at the Arcata Playhouse.
The local group, Young and Lovely will be performing at a benefit for Area 1 Agency on Aging’s Volunteer Driver Program.
Started in 2010, the Volunteer Driver Program brings people 50 and older who are no longer able to drive to their medical appointments and the pharmacy. This program is volunteer “driven” and can serve any place a volunteer is willing to drive. Volunteers receive mileage reimbursement and heartfelt thanks from our riders. The funding for this program is decreasing significantly in 2026 and it is too important to lose.
In addition to music, we will be featuring a selection of local professional and amateur bakers who will compete for the soon to be coveted Lovely Layers Award, based on audience voting. The cakes will then be auctioned off at the event.

Who we are…
The Area 1 Agency on Aging serves Humboldt and Del Norte counties. It is one of 33 similar agencies in the state of California.
As a service provider we help older adults and people with disabilities, their families, caregivers, friends and neighbors find information and resources.
As a funding agency, we award contracts for nutrition and other supportive services to meet the needs of older people in our communities.
As an administrative agency, we monitor, evaluate and document the performance of every contracted service provider.
As a planning agency, we gather information, determine priorities for service, and develop a plan to serve our community. As an advocate for older adults, we conduct public hearings, provide information to local and state decision-makers and collaborate with other organizations to provide needed assistance.
