Silent Dance Party at Seascape Beach

Overview:

We'll begin with an opening circle, a 10-minute playful movement warm-up, and some group games and activities to cultivate laughter and connection. Taken together, the first part will be 35 - 40 minutes, we’ll dance for 70- 80 minutes, and there will be a 10-minute closing circle before the bonfire. The "Silent Disco" headphones are provided and the dancing will be timed to conclude at sunset.

After the dance, participants are invited to stay afterwards for a beach bonfire with s'mores and an optional game of night frisbee. (S'mores ingredients provided: vegan and traditional marshmallows, organic honey graham crackers, gluten free honey graham crackers, organic dark chocolate. And for those that don't eat s’mores, there will be snack packs with organic dark chocolate, organic pecans and organic dried mango).

This event is for 20 people maximum. Ticket sales will end 2 hours before the event to make sure participants receive the email with detailed information and photos on where to park and meet. It is recommended that you get your tickets by Wednesday, August 6th to have your song(s) included in the playlist.

What will the music be?

This will be a collective playlist created in advance. All participants are encouraged to email me links for 1 - 2 songs for the playlist by Wednesday, August 6th and I arrange the flow of the playlist from our songs.

For your song selections, pick songs you love to dance to— this is an opportunity to share something you love and something about yourself. Everyone will have one song included in the playlist, the second song depends on how much time is remaining and what works best in terms of flow. Our playlist will be 70 - 80 minutes.

If you send me two songs, please have one of your songs be downtempo, mellow, sweet or ambient. For the music, we’ll start out slow then build up, and then slow down at the end again. This is why I ask for your second song choice to be slower— to have some options when I create the flow. Or you can just send one song of whatever you like.

Where to meet:

We will meet at the water's edge at Seascape Beach, a little south of the main area. There is free parking and public access to the beach at Seascape Resort, 1 Seascape Resort Dr, Aptos, CA 95003. All participants will receive an email with detailed information and photos on where to park and meet. Seascape beach is big and beautiful with very few people, so it is an ideal location for a silent dance party!

What is the walk to the beach like?

From the Seascape Resort parking lot, the trail starts out as a dirt path and then turns into a paved path for the rest of the way down to the sand. The walk from the parking lot to our spot at the beach will take about 15 - 20 minutes at a leisurely pace.

Timeline:

5:30 pm: Arrive at the parking lot to walk down to our spot at Seascape Beach

6 pm: Event Begins with group games and activities, an opening circle, and a playful guided movement warmup

6:40 - 6:50 pm: Dancing Begins

7:58 pm: Sunset

8 pm: Closing Circle

8:10 - 9:30pm: Bonfire, s'mores, and an optional game of group night frisbee

A snack if you think you may get hungry before the s'mores
