First English Director of Congregational Worship and Music, Erich L. Knapp will play an organ recital on the Magnificent Wahl Pipe Organ at the First English Downtown Site (Located at 326 E. North St, Appleton).
The recital begins at 12:15 p.m. and will last approximately 30-minutes.
The FELC Handbell Choir, under the direction of Erich Knapp, will perform Michael Helman’s “Concerto for Handbells and Organ in Baroque Style” on Wednesday, Aug.13 at 12:15 p.m. in the Downtown Site Sanctuary as part of the Lunchtime Organ Recital Series of the Northeast Wisconsin Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
This 6-minute work is set in authentic Baroque style with elaborate texture galore. The first movement is majestic with dotted rhythms. The second movement uses small sections of special effects by the handbells. There are solo sections that give an opportunity for interplay between the organ and the handbells, and plenty of sixteenth-note patterns.
There will also be two large solos played on our Magnificent Wahl Pipe Organ, played by Erich Knapp, including the Contemporary French work, “Fanfare à Sainte Clotilde” by Frederick Swann, as well as a set of variations on the hymn “He Leadeth Me” by Charles Callahan, with FIVE movements played entirely by the feet on the pedals of the organ!
A dessert reception will follow the concert.
The recital will be streamed LIVE at www.felc.com/music.
