• FAQ •
A fifth round of made-up questions for the purposes of delivering information:
"don't you get tired of this exercise every year?"
We're pretty sure no one reads this section but there's some general questions most people have, so this is a method of letting people know so details about the comp if they've never done it before.
"Ok, so it's year five, are you planning to shake it up for a signature year"
Well we have some ideas to test out, last year we tried a prize for winning a specific event which we might do again. Lots of ideas in the hopper, just need to think them through a little bit more to put into action. So yes I suppose
"That's pretty non-specific"
Well that's an observation not a question
*Heavy sigh* "ok can you be more specific?"
Sure, one of our ideas is based around registration, if we can get to 50 or more teams, we were thinking about doing some crazy swag or some fun winners prizes. We see this competition as a celebration of community and not a cash grab so the more attendance we get the more we'd like to do for the athletes and volunteers. We also are kicking the tires on how to structure an event to be more exciting and fun, but that's something the team is currently digging into. More to come on that for sure.
"Are you returning the same core group from last year? They were great!"
You bet, in order to set this date we needed to verify that many of our key volunteers were available and this weekend was the one that worked for them. you'll see our awesome scorekeepers, social media, judges, etc. We have an awesome group and are excited that it's expanded a little bit as well.
"Will the experience be different?"
For those people who have done this event before it will be pretty similar, we'll have 3-4 events plus a final. The events will be different than last time and we're not thinking of doing a repeat for the final this year. Basically a new team can expect a challenging day at a well-run event.
"That sounds great will you have sponsors and etc?"
We'll be reaching out to different groups and sponsors per usual, keep checking the event description and social media pages for updates on that. Might take a bit of time but we'll announce them as we find them. If you know someone who'd like to sponsor or would like to sponsor the event yourself, please contact us and we'll get you set up!
"Is Mucho man ok? He was absent last year"
It's a funny story, after living off the grid for years he now sells olive oil out of his garage, he doesn't have an olive farm or anything, so we don't know how he makes it. He likes to wear a tunic made of alpaca fur, but that's all we were able to find out from his myspace page.
"Will there be food again? I get hungry and need food to survive and it was nice to have something to grab between events"
Crossing fingers but we're optimistic our venders from last year should be back, we're starting to reach out again so should have information soon. Check the detail above to see the list of confirmed venders.
"When can we expect root beer floats?"
Look, I get it, we'll see what we can do, but just as an observation, you might have an unhealthy obsession with those things.
"Where will you guys be releasing details about the competition?"
This year we'll be releasing all announcements through our Instagram and Facebook page. The event page will hold the date and general details. Make sure to like and follow our social pages to keep up to date with all the details!
"I thought of a silly name for my team, will I be able to put it on a sign???"
Great! You'll be happy to know that each team will get a sign again this year, along with some other swag and shirts (or a tank).
"I'm a vender and would like to set up a table at the battle to sell stuff"
Sure! We're open to enhancing the experience the day of the competition and would love to discuss a way to make that beneficial for both of us! Please send us an e-mail at
Y2ZiYXR0bGVpbnRoZXZhbGxleSB8IGdtYWlsICEgY29t or fire us a message on Facebook.
"It's a long story, but I got into clowning as a hobby years ago and it's a very supportive community, so if I compete the entire troop will show up to watch, will there be enough parking?"
Awesome, you'll be happy to know that we still do not charge admission (because that's silly) and there will be tons of parking available.
"How can I find out details about the competition for that day?"
We'll be posting details for the competition as we go, this includes event announcements, heat times, parking locations, etc.
"I only like competitions if I can set up a tent."
Well, that's a statement and not a question, but you'll be happy to know we typically have a tent city on the side of the building! Set up tents and hang out between heats!
"Lifting heavy is my favorite thing"
you again, look no promises but there might be a lift, or not, just wait and see
"Do I need to have a ton of experience to do this?”
Nope! We're setting up the workouts to give all ability levels a chance to come here and compete. Take a look at the standards above to see if you're a Scaled or RX athlete, then sign up!
"I like it when I know some things but not everything about a competition"
Well then, you'll be excited to know that while we'll give you the important logistical information (on-site vendors, parking, heat times, etc), some information we'll hold back to keep the day fun! With events in particular we might give you partial information to keep you guessing, the final is always a secret but I expect you all to have fun with it!
"How many teams can register this year?"
we'll max out at 60 teams and depending on the size of the division and timeline we may close a "full" division to keep the day efficient. We care about the experience of the athletes, volunteers, and sponsors, so making the day longer than it needs to be isn't something we're interested in. if your division is full please send us an email and we'll start a waitlist, if it makes sense to add then we will let you know.
"I'd like to volunteer!"
Great, there's a volunteer registration on our event page on breeze scoring! Volunteers will get a shirt, swag, and we'll feed you that day, also give high fives because we're grateful for every volunteer we have!
"Can I just buy a shirt, maybe even an older one?"
we're kicking the tires on offering a limited number of shirts and etc in an online store, keep your eyes peeled as we'll let you know if we do!
