Celebrate our adorable donkey residents with a garden party just for them – and you’re invited too!
🐾 Get involved in setting up enrichment and treats for our donkeys

Whether you’re a lifelong donkey devotee or just need a wholesome afternoon outdoors, this experience promises gentle joy and lots of long ears.
🫏 Why Donkey Day?
International Donkey Day is all about recognising the value and personality of donkeys—and here at Crosskennan, it’s our chance to celebrate the gentle, curious, and often misunderstood residents who bring so much character to the sanctuary.
We use this day to trial new enrichment activities designed to improve their physical and mental wellbeing. Last year, we created simple treat boxes the donkeys had to pull apart to reach hidden goodies—encouraging them to move, explore, problem-solve, and play.
These experiments help us learn what they enjoy, what stimulates them, and how we can keep them happy and healthy all year round. And this year, you can be part of it!
By joining the Donkey Day Picnic, you’ll help us set up enrichment, observe their responses, and share in the joy of a few well-earned carrot snacks (for them… but maybe for you too). 🥕
🌦️ This is an outdoor session on uneven ground – boots and raincoats encouraged!

💚 All tickets and any additional donations go directly to the care of the animals at Crosskennan and help us continue our vital work of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need.
