June Event at Tynan Wines

With a glass of wine on arrival and a scrumptious grazing platter, we will enjoy some networking and a presentation by the lovely ladies from BIDS Hunter.

BIDS, delivered by the Australian Federation of Disability Organisations (AFDO) in partnership with lived experience Project Teams, offers personalised business reviews and identifies tailored opportunities to enhance disability confidence. The program focuses on assisting businesses to create welcoming, accessible, and confident environments for both staff and customers.

While perceptions and understanding of disability have improved over time, challenges remain in achieving true equity in employment. Initiatives like BIDS are essential steps toward breaking down those barriers and fostering a more inclusive and equitable workforce.

Over 1 in 5 (21.4%) people in Australia identify as having some form of disability.
There are 2.7 million Australians of working age with disability. Of these, more than half were employed (56.1%), compared with 82.3% of people without disability.
