Sit back and enjoy the jazzy classical stylings of the Urban Art Orchestra, a 20+ member group that celebrates music from the colorful mind of world-renowned composer De’Sean Jones, a Billboard-charting recording artist and award-winning arranger. Over the course of Jones’ 20+ year career, he has been afforded opportunities to write, produce, and tour the world extensively, collaborating with numerous music icons across a wide variety of genres. A protégé of both techno pioneer “Mad” Mike Banks (Underground Resistance) and the late great trumpet legend Marcus Belgrave, Jones aspires to continue to uphold the legacy of progressing music forward while being an ambassador for the rich musical history of Detroit. The UAO’s debut release Live in Detroit Vol. 1 was recorded at Cliff Bell’s and features live strings, harp, horns, a full rhythm section, percussion, vocals, DJs, and Jones himself on tenor saxophone. Their expansive sound is a must-see at A2SF this summer!
