Resist and Reveal Opening Reception

Join us for the Opening Reception of Melissa Wilson's Resist and Reveal exhibition in the Spotlight Gallery.

Resist and Reveal explores the resilience of place through copper etchings and cyanotype prints that honor the beauty of aging architecture and the histories they hold. Rooted in her connection to Detroit—where her practice began in the Cass Corridor—Melissa's work draws on saltwater etching with copper, materials tied to the city's industrial past and cycles of decay and renewal. Her tactile, analog processes resist erasure in a digital age, reflecting a reverence for what endures. Expanding beyond Detroit, this exhibition includes structures from Ann Arbor and surrounding areas, capturing spaces rich with personal and collective memory. Through her art, Melissa offers quiet tributes to perseverance, inviting viewers to reflect on what remains and deserves to.
