Friday, June 6 — Our June series kicks off with a special Songwriter Round featuring four standout artists:
Stuart Benbow is a seasoned Americana singer-songwriter whose heartfelt lyrics and skilled guitar work have built a devoted regional following. He also serves as the evening’s host, fostering connection through music and storytelling.
McKayla Prew earned the title of 2023 Michigan State Fair Superstar, captivating audiences with her powerful vocals and emotive performances. Beyond her musical pursuits, McKayla lent her voice to the animated character “Mazine” on the children’s PBS show Wimee’s Words, demonstrating her versatility as a performer. McKayla will be opening for international superstars, Big & Rich, and The Band Perry this July, but you’ll get to see her up close.
Joe Jarvis, the 2022 Michigan State Fair Superstar winner, is an award-winning Christian artist from Metro Detroit. His debut album, Love is a Verb, released in July 2024, blends pop, country, rock, and folk influences. Joe has performed live on Fox 2 News Detroit and has opened for notable CCM artists such as Cochren and Co, Micah Tyler, and Sanctus Real.
Cesar Aquino, a finalist in the 2024 Michigan State Fair Superstar competition, is recognized for his soulful R&B style and warm vocals. He has performed at venues like Crazy Wisdom, and the Corktown Music Festival, where his heartfelt songs and engaging stage presence have captivated audiences.
This songwriter round promises an evening of diverse musical styles and authentic storytelling, highlighting the rich talent within Michigan’s music community.
