Join us for an informal training run along the Surf Coast Century Leg 3 – Anglesea to Moggs Creek (27km) for a chance to see the course, meet some other runners training for the event and ask questions. Sunday 20th July.
Leg 3 is often regarded as the ‘crux’ of the 100km course with the biggest hills and most challenging terrain – it’s this section that should be given the most respect on the day. (It also has the most wild flowers and provides a great journey through the hinterland as well!)
NOTE: This section is not included in the 50km course for 2025 – but 50km runners are most welcome to join us for a run anyway.
The training run will be hosted by our friends at the Surf Coast Trail Runners – and will be conducted as a friendly group run with everyone running at their own pace but safe in the knowledge that there are other runners gathering to do the same thing at the same time.
The run is free to attend and will be hosted by some experienced locals who have done the event before and know the trails ultra well.
WHEN: meet read to run at 8:00am start on Sunday 20th July.
WHERE: The run will start at the 'Anglesea Lions Park' in Anglesea - opposite the main shops

NAVIGATION: The course weaves through a mix of single track, roads and 4WD tracks and will NOT BE MARKED for the training run.
So it is essential that everyone to HAS THE COURSE ROUTE ON YOUR PHONE and/or your watch so you know where to go.
This is super easy - CLICK THIS LINK:
https://link.avenza.com/rkWq to install the Avenza mapping app (if not already installed) and download the course map to your phone. The map will work when you have no phone reception and your position will be identified with a blue circle.
Further explanation of how to put the maps on your phone and download the GPX files are on the website here:

EQUIPMENT: Please be completely self sufficient for the run. There is some water at the 20km pt (from a tap in one of the picnic areas at the Distillery Creek car park) but nowhere else on the trail.
TRANSPORTATION arrangements: Runners must organise your own transportation back to your car... We suggest dropping a car at the finish at 7:30am and car pooling with others to go to the start. Use this Facebook event page to arrange a few rides as there are always cars going from the finish to start.
ACCOMMODATION: We greatly encourage you to make a weekend of it and book a short term holiday rental through our event partner - The Great Ocean Road Holidays. Check out their range of accommodation options here:
