Black History Month was founded by historian Dr. Carter G. Woodson, often called the Father of Black History, when he started “Negro History Week” in 1926 — a celebration that eventually grew into the month-long observance we honor today.

� 2026 Theme: “A Century of Black History Commemorations”— celebrating 100 years of recognizing and sharing the importance of Black history in our nation.

� Don’t forget — VHS Annual Black History Program is Friday, February 27th!

Let’s celebrate, learn, and honor the legacy and contributions of Black Americans all month long! ��
