Black Bears in Connecticut - 4/30/2025

We hear lots of news reports from all over Connecticut of sightings of Ursa americanus, more commonly known as the Black Bear. This presentation focuses on the natural history of black bears in our state, an overview of black bear habitat, diet, behavior, reproduction, and current research efforts. It also provides recommendations for optimum coexistence with our black bear population.
