SSDP is excited to be participating in the Arctic Visions Psychedelic Conference at the University of Alaska Anchorage on August 15-16, 2025.
Join SSDP’s Gina Giorgio and gina vensel for a rare and moving conversation with William Leonard Pickard, who spent 20 years behind bars after one of the largest LSD-related arrests in U.S. history. Leonard will share his incredible story of survival, resilience, and transformation, offering a powerful look at the real human cost of the War on Drugs. Together, the panel will explore what Leonard’s experience reveals about justice, healing, and why the time is now to change psychedelic policy—and beyond.
Also, SSDP's Kat Murti will be hosting a fireside chat with Hamilton Morris, an American journalist, documentarian, and scientific researcher. He is the creator and director of the television series Hamilton's Pharmacopeia, in which he investigated the chemistry, history, and cultural impact of various psychoactive drugs.

ABOUT SSDP:
Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP) is the largest national youth-led network dedicated to ending the War on Drugs. At its heart, SSDP is a grassroots organization, led by a Board of Directors primarily elected by and from our student and youth members. We bring young people of all political and ideological orientations together to have honest conversations about drugs and drug policy. We create change by providing a platform where members collaborate, communicate, share resources with, and coach each other to generate policy change, deliver honest drug education, and promote harm reduction. Founded in 1998, SSDP is comprised of thousands of members in hundreds of communities around the United States.
