At the heart of a strong painting is solid drawing. This class is built to help you level up both.
We’ll explore core concepts like value, composition, temperature, and color theory. You’ll work in your preferred medium - graphite, charcoal, gouache, oil, acrylic - while tackling subjects like portraits, landscapes, and still life.
This is a flexible space that meets you where you are. Whether you're just starting out or looking to deepen your practice, the ideas we cover will apply across almost all traditional media.
Expect:
- Demos and examples from art history and contemporary artists
- A look at tools, surfaces, and supplies that support your process
- A friendly critique at the end of the month to help you grow
- Access to links, resources, and recordings of every session
Sessions occasionally focus in on specific mediums based on the group’s interests, and you're encouraged to bring whatever you're working with. The instructor tends to use oils, gouache, graphite, and watercolor but welcomes acrylic, ink, pastels, and more.
