Come join film director Gavin Michael Booth and members of the 107.9 FM The Burg team with Amherstburg's first screening of 'Radio Renaissance: Amherstburg's New Wave' at The Fort Fun Centre on Thursday, December 11th, 2025. The screening will begin at 7:00pm.
Radio Renaissance: Amherstburg’s New Wave takes viewers inside the inspiring story of CKBG 107.9 The Burg, a grassroots radio station launched in the heart of Amherstburg, Ontario. At a time when small-town radio seemed destined to fade, one man’s determination brought it roaring back to life. Nearly 80 years old, legally blind, and battling stage four cancer, founder Marty Adler defied all expectations to put Amherstburg on the airwaves.
The series follows the dedicated team of employees and volunteers who now carry forward his vision. From promoting local musicians and businesses to delivering hometown news and holiday cheer, CKBG has quickly become more than a station- it’s the voice of the town itself. Through their daily grind, we see how the airwaves knit together a community that feels like it belongs in a Christmas movie: heritage streets, riverside beauty, and a proud population that rallies around its own.
With humour, heart, and small-town grit, Radio Renaissance reveals what it takes to build something lasting against all odds. It’s about more than radio- it’s about the resilience of a community, the power of connection, and how one person’s dream can give an entire town a new voice.
Proceeds of the ticket sales will be benefiting two local charities: 'Amherstburg Food & Fellowship Mission' and 'The House Youth Centre.'
