Hi Everybody -- Right here in our common house, a week from Thursday, July 10th, friend and colleague, Andy Davis, will pull into our community on his bicycle. He is doing a 800 mile bicycle and storytelling tour AND along the way he will be "touring" his new show, based on themes from Don Quixote ("To dream the impossible dream.....) . We are the 5th of 20 shows he will be performing around the Northeast. What an amazing adventure! I have not seen the show yet - but I am excited to have him here and get the feeling it will be a terrific show, full of the wisdom and humor he naturally brings to the world.
There will be a potluck first at 6pm and then a show at 7.
I am not much of a marketer and would be grateful if you would pass this on to anyone you think might be interested.
no one will be turned away for lack of funds
Here is the poster, attached is a more detailed description of the event. Johnny P

Bicycling Storyteller Comes to North Amherst
Thursday, July 10, at 7 pm, storyteller Andy Davis will be performing in the Common House at Cherry Hill Cohousing at 120 Pulpit Hill Road in Amherst. The event is part of an 800 mile, three-week-long tour by bicycle through all six New England States, beginning and ending at Davis’s home in Tamworth, New Hampshire.
He'll be performing “Quixotic,” an engrossing and humorous one-man show which celebrates his long relationship with Don Quixote, and the capacity of art to impact the world. Through personal story, scenes from the novel, glimpses into the author’s life, and a snapshot from recent history, he connects the themes of Cervantes’s masterwork to the enduring questions as to how humans should live. No prior knowledge of the novel is necessary for enjoyment.
Davis leaves his home in the White Mountains July 6. Prior to his arrival in Amherst, he will have appeared at events in Canterbury and Keene, New Hampshire, and Guilford, Vermont. On July 11 he performs at a Holyoke house concert (Call Motoko at (413)253-1664 for details). After that, he pedals on to other house concerts and formal venues in Great Barrington, three locations in Connecticut, Providence, Cape Cod, Boston, the North Shore, Portsmouth, and southern Maine.
Andy Davis got his start as a storyteller telling comic tales by candlelight in Mexican refugee camps 30 years ago. He has since broadened and refined his craft and has entertained audiences from Bamako to Seattle with his signature blend of infectious humor, sly wisdom, and a cheerfully subversive spirit. He lives with his wife, adult daughter, and their elderly beagle in a little home-made house in Tamworth, NH. Find out more about his work at www.andydavisstoryteller.com.
The July 10 event will begin with a potluck supper at 6 pm, and the storytelling will begin at 7 pm. The suggested donation is $15, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Children are welcome if they can listen like adults. For more information, call John Porcino at 413-687-2602 , or email
