Level Up Your Seed Health Testing Skills!
The National Seed Health System (NSHS) and the Seed Technology and Business Graduate Program at Iowa State University invite you to join us October 2025 for a hands-on Seed Health Testing Workshop designed for early-career seed laboratory technicians.
This intensive three-day program blends lectures, guided discussions, and hands-on lab training in NSHS-accredited methods, giving participants the opportunity to strengthen essential technical skills while working side-by-side with experts.
🔍 What You’ll Learn
Train directly on seed health testing methods for:
- Bacteria: Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. flaccumfaciens on beans
- Fungi: Stenocarpella maydis on maize
- Viruses: Tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) on tomato and pepper
🎓 Earn Digital Badges & Credentials
Participants who successfully complete lab sessions will earn three digital badges:
1. Detection of Fungal Pathogens in Crop Seeds
2. Detection of Viral Pathogens in Crop Seeds
3. Detection of Bacterial Pathogens in Crop Seeds
➡️ Those who also submit a reflection can earn the advanced Seedborne Pathogen Detection badge, recognizing comprehensive skills across bacteria, fungi, and viruses.
