You know that feeling when you're trying to tell someone something important, but the words just won't come out right? That's what this show is about.
I Knew You Once brings together my newest paintings, drawings, sculptures, furniture, and found object pieces, all wrestling with how we try (and often fail) to say what really matters to us as human beings.
Every material tells a story. The wood, steel, stretched canvas, and random objects I've collected all carry their own histories and contradictions. Some pieces feel like ancient artifacts you might find in an attic. Others are like letters written to no one in particular.
Memory isn't something we just pull off a shelf. We rebuild it every single time we remember something, and that process is messy and fragile and constantly shifting. This work lives in that unstable space where meaning flickers for just a moment before changing again.
These are the strange ideas I've collected on this weird journey of being human. I like to think of them as souvenirs from the experience of trying to make sense of it all.
Come see if any it resonates with you.
