Rug Weaving

The art of weaving is one of the oldest art forms and has served many functional roles in human history. This workshop will introduce participants to the basics of loom weaving utilizing the elements of art and design to plan out visually appealing, one-of-a-kind tapestries.

The objective of this course is to gain a better understanding of loom weaving basics and techniques. Participants will spend time collecting inspiration for their woven designs prior to beginning their tapestries. Amana's very own Woolen Mill generously donates the salvage edge from blankets, allowing for 10 different options to choose from. The instructor will do a brief weaving demonstration on a loom and oversee each participant as they weave on their own loom for the remainder of the class.

$110 fee | This fee not only ensures our skilled instructors receive a fair wage, but it goes directly to the support of our nonprofit's mission which provides diverse programing and activities that include a wide range of cultural experiences in all areas of the arts.
