MWBA October Restoration Day on Sunset Ridge Trail

MWBA kicks off our restoration work on Sunset Ridge following the Eaton Fire closure.

Volunteers will help restore the trail and clear brush under the guidance of our trail crew leaders. After a morning of re-benching and opening up sightlines, we will gather at Loma Alta Park to share a hearty lunch and stories from the day.

Staging and sign-in this month will be at the southwest lot of Loma Alta Park on Palm Street. If you've joined us in the past, this is our usual lunch spot. We will load tools and carpool up the gated Chaney Trail to the work sites. Please indicate on your RSVP if you are willing to transport 3+ volunteers in your vehicle along paved roads. We will be staging vehicles just beyond the locked gate at the bottom of Chaney Trail - No high clearance vehicles required.

As always, no trail work experience is necessary to join us on trail! We will provide the tools and guidance for a fun, responsible, and productive day in the forest.

Please bring the following in preparation for a successful day out on the trail:

• Trail work clothing: long sleeve shirt, long pants, sturdy shoes, eye protection are required.
• A hydration pack or backpack able to carry water and snacks while working on the trail.
• Water and snacks to keep you feeling good for 5-6 hours in the sun

Please RSVP by obtaining a ticket via EventBrite. This will help us keep track of headcount and make sure we have LUNCH for all!

Please note: There is intermittent cell coverage at the work areas along Sunset Ridge Trail.

Work Plan:

• Meet at Loma Alta Park at 8am. Please be prompt so we can get our morning started!
• Sign in and safety briefing
• Carpool to worksite staging on Sunset Ridge
• Hike to work sites (up to 2 miles each way)
• Work is a mix of brushing and tread repair
• Regroup for hike back to vehicles at 12:15pm
• Lunch at Loma Alta Park starting at 1:00 pm.
