Learn the American version of the fun, challenging, social tile game, Mah Jongg, in a 2 session beginner class which will cover:
· A brief history of the game
· The game equipment (racks, pushers, tiles, mat)
· Identifying the tiles (craks, bams, dots, dragons, winds, flowers and Jokers)
· How to read the card of winning hands published annually by the National Mah Jongg League
· The setup, rules and terminology of the game (including washing tiles, breaking the wall, doing the Charleston, calling a discard)
· Variations of play with 2-5 players
· Scoring and betting
· Basic strategy
· Some etiquette and bad habits to avoid
· Online resources and game platforms
· Lots of practice playing!
Class will be held on August 1st and 8th from 11:00 - 1:00 at Brewable in Roswell (see info below) and registration fee includes a standard drink at each session.
Students will also get first dibs on seats for free “Open Play” on Friday August 15th from 11:00 - 1:00. (more info on that will be provide with registration confirmation).
