Join acclaimed poet and storyteller Rosetta Peters and composer JG Everest for this free, 3-hour creative writing workshop at Wild River State Park, for a chance to explore the river trails and our own creative responses to this special place.
What kind of medicine can the river, woods, and community provide? We will take a short guided nature walk along the river and then pick spots to spend creative time writing for ourselves, before gathering to share with each other around a campfire. Poems written in the workshop can be part of a Poetry Walk along the same trail for the "Festival Of Belonging" later in August and September. No experience necessary. Appropriate for ages 16-up.
Registration required. Capacity Limited to 12 people. To Register, Click on the tickets link to send an email with "Wild River Poetry" in the comment field. We will respond with additional details for where to meet at River Access.
WHAT TO BRING: Your choice of writing tools: pen, paper, phone, tablet, etc. Paper pads and pens will be provided. Also, bring comfortable hiking / walking shoes, water bottle, bug spray, headlamp or flashlight, and layers for cooler weather. Also, if desired, a camp chair or stool for your writing spot.
This activity is made possible in part by a grant from the East Central Regional Arts Council, with funds appropriated by the Minnesota Legislature from its general fund.
