The Canteen Corner is a service that is something very special for us to provide for many reasons.
We know countless veterans and even some of our team members who used to meet in the canteen area each morning before or after their groups, Dr. appointments, lab work, or any other appointment they had that morning for a cup of coffee and donuts. (Pre-pandemic)
The morning gathering with fellow veterans over some coffee and conversation served as a catalyst for how many of them began their day.
Each day, it was hosted/sponsored by a different community organization that supplied all the refreshments. This service was greatly missed when it halted due to the pandemic, even by the volunteer organizations who provided it.
We are very grateful for our partnership with The American Red Cross. They invited us to tag along with them for the first time that they were bringing this service back in June. Hats off to the American Red Cross for all they do in our communities 🫡
We are very grateful that we are able to host this opportunity for the veterans of the Allentown VA Clinic coming into our 3rd month now. Not only because we know how invaluable it is, but because all the veterans who've stopped by these last 3 months have expressed it to us repeatedly.
We can't thank the Wilkes-Barre VA Hospital / Allentown VA Clinic enough for bringing this service back through us and the other veteran and community organizations.
Our team is ready and eager to serve you. Come out and enjoy some hot coffee, camaraderie and conversation, and of course some delicious donuts ☕️ 🍩
