The Baum School of Art invites you to take a tour of Allentown’s
iconic sites through the distinctive views of three accomplished
local painters: Ian Butz, Rosemary Geseck, and Sylvia Roth. Augmented Landscapes: Interpretations of Allentown Landmarks
showcases how the same locations can be transformed through different artistic approaches, revealing the region’s natural beauty, industrial heritage, and quintessential local features. Each landmark featured in the exhibition appears in multiple interpretations, demonstrating how individual vision and
style can dramatically reshape our understanding of the same subject.
All three artists share deep roots in the Lehigh Valley and meaningful personal connections. Ian Butz, who recently graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts with his MFA, was taught by Rosemary Geseck at The Baum School of Art during his formative years. Sylvia Roth has developed friendships with Butz and Geseck through their shared passion for painting and place.
Join us for two special events celebrating the exhibition. Both events are free and open to the public, with light refreshments served.
