Green Corn Unity Festival

The Yamassee Indian Tribe of Seminoles is hosting the Green Corn Unity Festival on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at USC Salkehatchie. The event includes a candlelight vigil in memory of MarKayla Roberts, a 14-year-old girl who was killed by a stray bullet, and the launch of the MarKayla Roberts Memorial Scholarship Fund. The tribe is inviting the community to join them in solidarity, bringing their congregation, colors, banners, flags, and prayers. The event aims to declare to every child in Allendale that they are sacred, seen, and not alone. Organizations that want to receive event T-shirts can contact the tribe with their group name and shirt sizes.
