It's the very LAST Sunday Folk Up for the year, and what better way to celebrate the rich and diverse musical talents of Mparntwe/Alice Springs!
To bring us into the festival season, we have two local ladies with very different musical styles, but both grounded in local stories and connection to country (and sea!)
George Ivens is an indie-folk singer songwriter and visual artist, raised on the Yorke Peninsula SA. George has been living and writing songs in Mparntwe for about three years now and released her debut album ‘Ocean Stereo’ this year which blends together her muses - the ocean, the desert, and raw, vulnerable emotion.
Katie Harder has been holding off on any official live release of her new album through the Alice Springs Folk Club - but the time has come - let's get the trio back together!! -
Anders Pfeiffer and Gleny Rae played a huge part in informing the creative direction of so many of Katie’s new songs, that she just couldn’t imagine releasing it without them. She’s waited for Anders to return from overseas in order to release it right!!
Come and enjoy the very last - Last Sunday Folk up as Katie performs songs of her ARIA charted album ‘Slow Walking’.
"Katie Harder’s new album is a fearless tapestry of sound and story - bold, multidimensional, and rich with heart. It’s the kind of music that doesn’t just speak to you - it stays with you” Dallas Frasca.
As usual, the ever popular Open Mic will run from 7 - 8pm with ten minute (two song) slots available. Get in early to get your name on the board!
