The Presenter:
This course is presented by EurIng Prof. Dave Cooper MBE who has 45 years professional experience in the lift, escalator and cable car industry. He is the CEO of UK based lift consultants LECS (UK) Ltd and LECS (UAE) Ltd. His first posting to Gibraltar was circa 1992/3 where he oversaw the lifts being installed at Ragged Staff Wharf. He is co-author of ‘The Elevator & Escalator Micropedia’ (1997) and ‘Elevator & Escalator Accident Investigation & Litigation’ (2002 & 2005), as well as a contributor to a number of other books including CIBSE Guide D. He is a regular columnist in trade journals worldwide including Elevation, Elevator World, Elevatori and Lift Industry News. Cooper is a frequent speaker on the world stage, presenting at industry seminars around the globe.
In 2012 David was awarded the silver medal by CIBSE for services to the institution. In 2021 he was awarded the Sir Moir Lockhead Award by the SOE for 30 years dedication to safety in the lift and escalator industry, and in 2023 he received an MBE in the King’s Birthday honours for services to lift and escalator engineering. He is an honorary Visiting Professor at the University of Northampton and CIBSE’s President Elect for the coming term. He holds a Master’s of Philosophy degree following a five-year research project into accidents on escalators; a Master’s of Science in Lift Engineering degree; a Bachelor of Science honours degree; a Higher National Certificate; and a Continuing Education Certificate in lift and escalator engineering.
