Ready to turn your home into a life-saving refuge, and a powerful tool for change?
This full-day workshop is for vegans who want to build on their current activism and create lasting impact through home-based animal rescue and advocacy.
You’ll learn how to start your own microsanctuary; a small, sustainable haven where liberated animals receive exceptional care and their stories help shift hearts, minds, and policies.
As a hen rescue our main focus will be chickens for this event, but whether you hope to care for chickens, rats, ducks, or larger animals, we’ll give you the tools to do it ethically, intentionally, and in a way that supports both the animals and yourself long term. No matter whether you live in an apartment, a house with a backyard or on a property, there are animals that you could care for in a microsanctuary set up.
💚 Topics include:
- Why small is beautiful
– How to collaborate with rescuers to offer your home as a safe space
– Creating safe, species-appropriate housing
– Providing gold-standard, individualised care
– Deciding and budgeting for who you can accommodate in your space
– Using storytelling and social media to advocate for those still trapped
– Avoiding burnout and staying sustainable for life
Microsanctuaries relieve pressure on larger rescues, amplify animal voices, and allow you to offer real refuge (no big property required.)
Small is beautiful. Start where you are. Help who you can. Change the world one life at a time.
