• The Quigley motto is “Know Your Past, Empower Your Future”!
• The idea of having a community based pipe band was born 22 years ago around a kitchen table at the home of Millan & Fiona MacPherson, while enjoying Celtic music and refreshments.
• And so, the 1st public performance of the Quigley Highlanders tradition started at the Glengarry Highland Games in 2002, wearing the Modern MacKenzie Tartan in honour of Pipe Major J.T. MacKenzie and his contribution to Pipe Bands around the world. PM MacKenzie led the Quigleys proudly onto the field that day. A dream come true!
• The band’s 1st win in competition was in 2007 at the North Lanark Highland Games in Almonte. They then repeated this first place win in 2013 at those same games.
• The band has travelled twice to Scotland, and has twice played in Hawaii for the Pearl Harbour Commemoration where they were the only pipe band from Canada. They also perform at the annual Saranac Lake Winter Carnival and the Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration in upper New York State, and in 2018 the Band opened for Rod Stewart in Montreal.
• The Quigley’s primary focus is playing for their community and play for many local fairs, social events, Concerts at the Grotto, the Maxville Manor, and numerous Remembrance Day Services. The support and appreciation from our community is most gratifying for the band members.
• The band would like to acknowledge the ongoing support from the Alexandria Legion (Branch 423), the community, friends and family, without which, none of this would be possible.
